WINTER BAROQUE
People gathering for music at the holidays is a grand tradition with the Newburyport Chamber Music Festival’s Winter Baroque Concert that continues this year. Musicians playing trumpet, violin, cello, and continuo (harpsichord) perform Handel’s “Water Music,” an energetic series of suites performed specifically for King George I on his barge traveling the River Thames, and pieces by Handel, Bach, Purcell, Biber, and Castello. For those who enjoy brass, the addition of trumpet player Perry Sutton should make this concert a special treat. Harpsichord player John McKean, an active performer throughout North America and Europe, returns to Newburyport for this concert.
Winter Baroque takes place at St. Paul’s Church on December 17th at 3:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased at www.newburyportchambermusic.org/events/2023-winter-baroque for $35 or at the door for $40. Tickets go on sale Nov. 1st. For questions, call 978-701-4914.
