Today, nearly 1 billion people lack access to potable water and over 3 million people die each year from water-related illness.
To help correct this situation a special event, Water Day, is being held on June 9, 2012 at Spencer-Little Farm in Newbury, MA. Quality food and entertainment will be abundant. Event goers will see dance group performances by Boston Community Dance Project, Joppa Jazz Dance Company, and many more. A total of 8 regional bands ranging from the folky Liz Frame & The Kickers, to the Boston based alternative rock of Will Dailey will be playing throughout the day.
In addition, attendees will be able to enjoy beverages from Ipswich Ale, Turkey Shore Distillery, and food from Flatbreads Pizza, Cherry Bomb Ice Cream and other local restaurants that have agreed to provide a percentage of sales to the cause. Money raised will be sent to charity: water.
Currently charity: water has established water projects in communities in Ethiopia, Uganda, India and throughout the Caribbean among other locations, and have funded 6,185 water projects bringing water to over 2.5 million people.
