The Damnwells
"On your mark, get set, get ready..." These are the opening lines to "Golden Days" a recent single from The Damnwells and you had better heed them and sprint over to the Firehouse for tickets to the upcoming Damnwells concert. This Indie band is one not to be missed and if you don't hear them this summer here at the Firehouse you will regret it next year when the little secret known as Alex Dezenbecomes public knowledge.Pay no attention to Dezen when he claims he "makes records that no onebuys." Dezen is the creative force behind the writing and "force" is not used lightly here. Now he and Ted Hudson, the two members who form the core of The Damnwells, team up for this year's tenth annual RiverFest concert at the Firehouse. The sounds and lyrics Dezen writes are performed sometimes by Dezen alone, and some times backed up by various musicians who have joined The Damnwells throughout their ten-year existence, but the songs are always the stuff that many of us might choose to select as the soundtracks to our own lives, so it is no wonder that the movie people are gettting wiseto Dezen too. Yes that is his voice you hear on the soundtracks to such films as Chaos Theory (2008), Just Married (2003) (writer: "For My Own Good"); and TV shows that include "Brothers and Sisters""Life as We Know It" and "All My Children" to name a few. They have toured extensively throughout the country, creating a strong and growing fanbase in their wake and have shared the stage with bands such as The Dixie Chicks, Cheap, The Fray, Bob Dylan, and The Twilight Singers. No One Listens to the Band Anymore is the name of the newest CD released in March of this year. It's true no one listens to the band anymore because now everyone listens to the band, at least this band. Listen toa few of the singles like "Werewolves" or "The Great Unknown" and you will be hooked if you haven'tbeen yet. Come find out why one fan commented "I went to a Fray concert just to hear The Damnwells.""There's a real musicianship and bond between the band and the audience who has followed them from Indy roots to major label status."puresongwriters.com "...vocalist and chief songwriter Alex Dezen has established a complementary groove between country, rock and pop."Scott Holter, Amazon.com "...smart, mature, and well-crafted pop music with just enough emotional grit to give [Dezen's] stories traction, along with melodies that sound graceful, evocative, and powerful, whether he's serving up lean, wiry rock & roll..., pensive acoustic balladry..., nervy but heartfelt folk-rock... or arena-suitable heartland rock..."allmusic.com This event is presented by the Firehouse and 92.5 the River. All Tickets: $22 (All seats reserved)
