The Revenge of the Red Feather Ladies and the companion piece
The Red Feather Ladies Get Their Man
Director/Instructor:
CHARLES VAN EMAN
Please join us for the current performance of the new Senior Readers’ Theater when they present two one-act plays written by Maxine Holmgren. This performance, presented as a seated, staged reading, is free and open to the public (but donations are always appreciated!).
In The Revenge of the Red Feather Ladies and the companion piece The Red Feather Ladies Get Their Man, six women -- all members of the Red Feather Ladies Investment Club -- discover they are all engaged to the same man! When they discover the gigolo was planning on feathering his nest with their investments, they vow to get their revenge. Each woman, in her own unique and humorous way, comes up with a plan to teach the roving Romeo a lesson.
Maxine Holmgren is a writer, playwright, actress, and director. She has worked with local theatre groups in Wisconsin, Arizona, and California. She is the founder of Maxine's Mystery Tea Party Plans and has written over sixteen mystery party plans to be performed during the serving of a tea party, luncheon, or dinner. She has been interviewed in several newspapers and two national magazines, Tea Time and Tea in Texas, have featured her in special articles. She is presently working on a Christian mystery, with a tea room setting, as well as other writing projects. Her stage plays Revenge of the Red Feather Ladies (and its sequel), Murder at the Grey's Hound Mansion, and Who Shot Calhoun Cahootz? are published by Samuel French.
Readers’ Theater is performed seated and not memorized. The actors use vocal expression, minimal props and sound cues to help the audience understand the story.
Senior Readers’ Theater is show business without the stress! Readers’ theater is performed seated and there is no memorization required. Together, over a six-week period, participants explored a script in detail, developed a character, focused on the use of voice and gestures, and now finally- are here performing for the community!
Individuals aged 55 and older, regardless of experience, were welcomed and all shared in the extensive knowledge of instructor Charles Van Eman. This program has been designed to be a welcoming, non-threatening way to experience the magic of the theater.
