Newburyporters Amongst the Whales

Escape the winter chill and join James Russell, CHMM Executive Director, on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 2-4 pm for a talk about the global adventures of Newburyport whalers as they sailed the seven seas in pursuit of the leviathans of the deep. This one-hour presentation followed by Q&A will chart a course from early whaling expeditions in the North Atlantic, through the ESSEX of Moby Dick fame, to the end of Yankee whaling. Russell will reference Margaret Peckham Motes’ 2022 book “Among the Whales,” illustrated by artist Jeffrey Briggs. Free to CHMM Members; $10 admission for guests.
