Newburyport Art presents Journeying Well: Artistic Pathways & an Opening Night Book Launch Event
Newburyport Art (NAA) presents Journeying Well: Artistic Pathways, and an opening night book launch event, Collaborators in Conversation: The Making of a Book. Journeying Well: Artistic Pathways is a 75th Anniversary special exhibition, sponsored by Newburyport Charitable Bank and Mass Cultural Council. Journeying Well is on view in the Hills, Sargent, Mural, and Hartson Galleries. The book launch event with NAA Master Artist Ryan Kelley and former NAA Executive Director Elena Ruocco Bachrach will be held in the Sargent Gallery on Friday, November 17th, from 5:00 – 7:00pm, with a panel discussion beginning at 5:30pm.
Journeying Well: Artistic Pathways is the final installment of Newburyport Art’s 75th Anniversary celebrations. NAA wishes to thank Newburyport Charitable Bank and Mass Cultural Council for their support of the exhibition and related programming. Artwork in the exhibit reacts to the theme of artistic and creative process, pathways (literal pathways, metaphorical, symbolic, abstract, process-oriented) and more. This exhibition also features call and response prompts, where artists created artwork based on one of twelve quotes by famous creatives working across the 75 years that Newburyport Art has been active. The Mural Gallery also introduces five of the selected muralists for the next phase of the NBPT Murals Project in 2024.
Opening the exhibition is a special event—Collaborators in Conversation: The Making of a Book—which highlights the practice of wire-artist Ryan Kelley, is written by Elena Ruocco Bachrach, and photographed by Ryan Gregory. Join the trio on Friday, November 17th from 5:00 – 7:00pm to hear about the three-year-long process leading up to the creation of this book.
This show runs concurrently with the Fall Gift Shop. A reception will be held on Saturday, November 18th from 5:00 – 7:00pm.The galleries are free and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00am–5:00pm and Sunday from 1:00pm–5:00pm. Newburyport Art is closed on Mondays. The ground-floor Hills Gallery has an accessible entrance. More information, as well as an online gallery is available at newburyportart.org.
