Award-winning author Ron Tanner visits the Newburyport Public Library on Thursday, October 17 at 7:00 pm to tell the true story of how he and his wife bought condemned property -- a wrecked former frat house -- and restored it to its original Victorian splendor. They knew nothing about fixing up houses when they started.
Their remarkable work was featured in THIS OLD HOUSE magazine in 2008 and is the subject of Tanner's funny, heart-warming book From Animal House to Our House: A Love Story.
Tanner and his wife run houselove.org, a website for fans of old houses and do-it-yourself home restoration. Tanner's talk includes an impressive slide show and is co-hosted by the Newburyport Preservation Trust.
